Description: A large metal wood stove with a central funnel at the centre back, a large hinged door at the front with smaller compartments to the right. When the Calthorpe’s first moved into the house, this wood stove was the only cooking source available. The wood for the stove was stored in the wood shed, and in the wood box situated outside the back door. ‘The Herald’ remained the preferred cooking stove, even after the electric ‘Early Kooka’ was purchased.

The interviewer is Kate Gardiner, ACT Museums and Galleries Education and Community Programs Manager, and the interviewee is Mrs Dawn Waterhouse, daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry and Del Calthorpe. The interview was recorded for Foundation to Year 2 Primary School students so they can listen to a person talking about an artefact.
